Why you should buy a cute hanger for your wedding

You’ve been tossing and turning all night due to the excitement comparable only to a child trying to sleep on Christmas Eve! Finally, it’s time to rise and shine! IT’S YOUR WEDDING DAY! You’re greeted by ALL of your closest girlies and the mimosas and memories start flowing! One minute, you’re seated in a comfy chair and your favorite hairstylist is working on perfecting your wedding day up-do, and the next moment you’re getting the finishing touches on your makeup when the wedding photographer arrives!

She tells you not to rush because she’s going to start with your details anyways. (Cue time to have one more drink to loosen the nerves before photo time!) You show her all of your details and she stands there a moment paralyzed by the beauty of your wedding dress. When the moment is over she asks the one question you either a.) never thought of,  b.) thought about but then forgot, or c.) decided not to spend the money on.

She asks “Do you have a cute hanger?”

Now at this point in the blog post you’re probably like “Really Molly? You think this is something I’ll actually care about on the most important day of my life??” YES I DO. I really really do.

Let me tell you what happens when the photographer asks you that question. You stare up at your STUNNING gown that you spent so much time picking out and your eyes stop getting lost in the detail and they hone in on the generic plastic hanger holding it up. All of a sudden all you can focus on is how your beautiful dress will be captured on a clear plastic store hanger instead of something that accentuates it’s beauty.

Now I’ve been in real life situations where this has happened and before you know it everyone is running around looking for ANYTHING ELSE to hang the dress on (including myself). So trust me when I tell you, it may seem pointless to buy a hanger that says “bride” or “Mrs. Smith” but you will be so happy you did when that moment comes. PLUS, it will make for AWESOME dress shots.

It doesn’t have to cost you a fortune!

If you’re not into spending an arm and a leg for a personalized dress hanger, you can do what I did! I went to Walmart and bought a pack of wooden hangers, a paint pen, and ribbon. I wrote my name, BRIDE, and the date on the hanger and also made one for each of my bridesmaids! So not only did it help make everything look all the more put together in my photographs, but they also doubled as a nice gift! Below you’ll see a shot of the hanger I got as a gift from one of my best friend’s weddings! It’s SO cute AND I still have it to this day!
