Why Doing a First Look Matters
So I’m going to start off with answering the question most couples have, what is a first look? A first look is a private moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony. Best of all, it’s captured by their photographer. Many couples are skeptical of a first look for many reasons, the one main being:
The First Look Will Take Away From the Aisle Moment
This is a a very valid concern. When most couples dream of their wedding day, they immediately envision seeing each other for the first time across the room. The Groom in the front with his boys at his side, and the Bride at the other end of the aisle, daddy in arm. I can honestly say, that’s how I pictured my wedding day! However, what most people don’t realize, is that a first look is much more intimate. It’s a private moment for the two of you to spend alone before all the chaos begins. In most instances, it’s very emotional because you’re not surrounded by so many people. You have the few moments to just relax, be yourselves, and truly take in the last few moments before you become husband and wife. I’ve had many couples say that they thought the first look would take away from the aisle moment. BUT when the groom is standing at the alter, the music starts playing, and everyone stands up, all the emotions coming flooding back because now, it’s really happening. Seeing your bride walk toward you with her father is an emotional moment whether you saw each other before or not.
